Integrated Pest Management Advocate and EcoLandscaper Steven Zien will teach "Integrated Pest Management II: An Advanced Perspective." The class will be held at the West Sacramento City Hall, 1110 West Capital Ave. West Sacramento, California. This evening seminar goes beyond the basics to discuss pest identification, key strategies to prevent pests, and management options from cultural controls to pesticides. This seminar focuses on Holistic Pest Management, which acknowledges that plants and their pests function in an ecological system. You will learn how to keep the ecosystem balance so pest do not become a problem; and to address intolerable pest problems with effective, environmentally-friendly management strategies. The fee is only $55 ($45 for EcoLandscape California members) and in addition to the class attendees will receive the publication "Pests of Landscape Trees and Shrubs, 3rd edition" (a $37 value) as well as a 20X magnifying hand lens with LED lights for identifying those pesky pests.
