Upcoming "Our Water Our World" Educational Horticulture Extravaganzas:
Integrated Pest Management Advocate Steven Zien takes his traveling Our Water Our World (OWOW)
show across the waters of our local creeks, streams and rivers to area
nurseries via kayak due to the heavy rains. The heavy rains and
resulting runoff is a great reminder that we need to practice
River-Friendly Landscaping and Gardening because synthetic pesticides
and fertilizers easily runoff our landscape and gardens with the rain
water where it travels directly without any treatment into our local
waterways polluting our recreational and drinking water supplies.
Friday February 22 Steven will peddle (he has a recumbent kayak with peddles) to the Meadowview Home Depot, nursery department at 1461 Meadowview Rd, Sacramento, CA 95832 from 10 am to 2 pm.
Saturday March 8 Steven will fight the high flows on the Sacramento and American Rivers on his journey to Green Acres Nursery and Supply at 9220 East Stockton Blvd. Elk Grove, CA 95624 for their annual Dig Into Spring Ideas Fair from 9 am to 6 pm. In addition to staffing his Our Water Our World booth, at 3 PM Steve is scheduled to make presentation at 3 pm "Garden Pest S.O.S.: Learn tips to identify pests and beneficial insect. Discover Integrated Pest Management techniques that provide control while preserving beneficials and the environment." How to prevent and manage pests will be covered.
Saturday March 16 Steven will peddle his kayak to Emigh Hardware 3555 El Camino Ave., Sacramento 95821 where he will staff the OWOW table from 10 am to 2 pm.
Sunday March 17 Steven will be kayaking past the Blarney Stone gathering up floating four leaf clovers on his way to Talini's Nursery 5601 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento 95821 where he will staff the OWOW table from 11 am to 3 pm.
Saturday March 30 Steven will be enjoying the rare rays of spring sunshine while at Green Acres Nursery and Supply's Sacramento's location 8501 Jackson Rd, Sacramento, CA 95826 where he will staff the OWOW table from 10 am to 2 pm.
Saturday April 6 Steven will peddle his kayak (or drive if the rains stop) back to Emigh Hardware 3555 El Camino Ave., Sacramento 95821 where he will staff the OWOW table from 10 am to 2 pm.
Saturday May 11 Steven will drive (assuming the rain has stoped) back to The Plant Foundry 3500 Broadway, Sacramento 95817 where he will staff the OWOW table from 10 am to 2 pm.
